Teya Wendie Flaster BFA, M.Ed., AMI, D.T.A.T.I.

Teya earned her undergraduate BFA degree in Art History, during which time she was inspired by the opportunity to study with noted art historian and critic, Barbara Rose while at the Cité Internationale Universitaire, Paris.

Teya emigrated from New York to Toronto, Canada to train and work as a Montessori teacher during which time her interest in human growth and development was sparked, especially as it relates to the creative process.

She went on to earn an M.Ed. in Counselling at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. She further explored her interests while studying Art Psychotherapy at the Toronto Art Therapy Institute, where she earned her D.T.A.T.I. She taught at the Toronto Art Therapy Institute and worked as an art psychotherapist for ten years.

She has since been in private practice as a psychotherapist and concurrently involved in a personal research project, FirstBreath-LastBreath.org

Teya is a certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor, teaching privately in Toronto and at her yoga studio in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

Teya accompanied her mother from diagnosis to last breath in 2004 and was inspired by this profound experience. The FIRST BREATH / LAST BREATH project was catalyzed to become a more deliberate research project by several informal conversations with others who had been part of a similar life experience. It is a personal project of inquiry which will be published when the stars align.

Please contact Teya to discuss this project and arrange a time to contribute your story.
